It’s Superbowl XLII time again and I am reminded of my favorite football player Walter “Sweetness” Payton #34. He defied gravity, ran as if he never touched the ground, played with the heart of a warrior and had the respect of all who played with or against him. His talent lives on in these captured moments of some of the most amazing football ever played.
Walter Jerry Payton (July 25, 1954 – November 1, 1999) was an American football player, who played for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League. He is remembered as one of the most prolific running backs in the history of American football. Payton, a nine-time Pro Bowl selection, once held the League’s record for most career rushing yards, touchdowns, carries, and many other categories. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. The NFL player and coach Mike Ditka described Payton as the greatest football player he had ever seen – but even greater as a human being.
GO GIANTS!
To the person who posted the nasty post earlier – there has never been any evidence, at all, or any credible suggestion, that Walter Payton used steroids. None. Ever. By anyone. It’s you and a few other conspiracy theorists online.

Wonderful tribute of such a stellar athlete as Walter Payton. On and off the field a Complete, Compassionate human being. Sadly succumbed to cancer during the prime of life.
