Coldplay: Viva la vida HQ

I am a sucker for Coldplay. The first time I heard them I thought it was U2 I was listening to. Chris Martin makes no bones about his desire to be the U2 of this generation. I know that for me that makes perfect sense. The music, the ballads are reflective and I know the melancholy is abundant, but I love it. This band touches me. Fix You off of X&Y is another one that hits deep and floods me.  Martin’s voice isn’t perfect, instead it’s vulnerable which makes him believable.

  1. Romi don’t mess with the Hoff.. at least around the German speakers of this planet. The Hoff is a purveyor of all things cool and fashionable.. at least between Berlin and Munich.

  2. I have been listening to this CD ALLLLLLLL weekend!!! I am so pleased with this one…I mean I enjoyed “X and Y” for those sappy and brooding moods (LOL), but this one is a little more charged-up…reminiscent of the Parachutes days….and OMG…do you not LOVE that combo-song “Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love”…AHHHHHHHH….hahahaha…okay I’ll stop gushing now, but I’m listening to it right now…seriously 😉 …and oh my gosh, “Viva La Vida” is soooooo my 7am weekday song right now….okay, seriously, I’ll stop now 😉

PS to Paul: that Hoff-mention did not go unnoticed…I hope that’s your twisted sense of humour talking.

  3. I’m another Coldplay fan. Their sound has changed a considerable deal since their debut, but I’m glad they’re still defining the genre instead of simply selling out.

I wish I could say the same for Green Day… there latest album was a bit too radio friendly. I’m hoping their “Foxboro Hot Tubs” project stays strong.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  4. The new album is just fantastic… in twenty years time people will look back and say that bands like Coldplay, Green Day and David Hasslehof defined this era of music.
