Thank you note: Goodbye Spencer RIP

I wrote this poem for my best friend Spencer Parris, today I learned that he was shot to death on July 17.  I had been calling and looking for him, I finally wrote an email and learned this .  It is not true, and he was killed by a trigger happy intoxicated cop.  I am in shock, utter and total complete shock, and I want my friend back, and I am posting this because I wrote it to my friend and I will never see him again.

Thank you note: Jan 13 2008 original post

You’re like the brother I never had,

The friend I’ve always needed.

My truth when I need a jolt of reality,

Unfortunately, not always heeded.

Your honesty is never lost on me

I marvel at your generosity.

I learn from you, laugh with you, and argue with you.

You listen to me, laugh at me, and keep me true.

I wanted to share these things, before life interfered inevitably.

As life always does, in ways we may not be able to foresee.

So Friend, let me take this moment to recognize you.

My friend, brother and more, I just wanted to say

Thank You.”

Don’t I know you?

I stumbled through a page today,
And found a friend along the way.
A simple hello and nice to meet you,
Followed by sharing a picture or two.
We noticed the hats right from the start
It may have helped her in standing apart.
From all over the world I meet great artists and minds.
Yet something told me we were two of a kind.
The oddest things came quickly to light.
Our lives would reveal a similar plight.
Instantly there was a comfort there.
I found that with her I am able to share.
No fear of judgment provides a space.
I need to have in order to trace.
The path that I’ve wandered that got me here
Those personal stories I can share without fear
Together I see something greater than two.
A friendship that helps both of us make it through.

Goodbye Butterfly

Calm night divides my soul
from the trappings of the flesh.
My selfless eye wanders upon your beauty
touched by flashes of light from the night past.
Overwhelmed with joy because your smile
makes a dancer of my heart.
I am truly one with the mystery
that surrounds us all.
Oh beautiful butterfly
you stay in my heart
flapping your wings I carry you always
in memories we can never part.

This lovely poem was written by a

good friend for me as I was moving

away.  We shared a difficult time in

our lives and I thank you Marc for

being there for me.  ~Veronica

Auld Lang Syne

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!  FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO FORGOT

THE WORDS (OR NEVER KNEW THEM).

ALL TOGETHER NOW.

Words to Auld Lang Syne
by Robert Burns
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintaince be forgot
And auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll be your pint stowp
And surely I’ll be mine,
And we’ll drink a richt guid willy waught
For auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pu’d the gowans fine,
But we’ve wandered monie a wearie fit’
Since auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidled in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine
But seas a’tween us braid hae roared
Since auld lang syne

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

And here’s a hand my trusty fere
And gie’s a hand o’ thine
And we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

It is worth noting that the original words to Auld Lang Syne were taken from traditional Scottish songs. Burns was the first to commit these to paper, and suggested that they be set to music.

Friendship Quotes

“Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.”

~George Washington~

“Friendship is unnecessary,
like philosophy, like art…
It has no survival value;
rather is one of those things that give value to survival.”

~C.S. Lewis~

“Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.”

~Albert Camus~
